Portico

Portico is the part of the building, belonging to it, but open to the outside, a threshold with columns. Porticos spread all over the world from the ancient world…

Surrounded by columns, teacher in the middle ages shared wisdom of life with disciples…

Somewhere in America cowboy sitting in the rocking chair, invites a friend to come by and share a story…

And Lithuanians have also made something like this – have glazed it and in it enjoyed the company of neighbours.

Portico – a place for fulfilling communion, dialogue and sharing. A place where conversation between people with different life experiences, beliefs and education takes place. A place where different disciplines – science and art – come into contact.

The first “Portico” was founded in 2008 in the old Evangelical Baptist Church in Klaipėda. The church itself was founded in 1851. The Veranda’s Drawing Studio continue to operate in this building.

However, Portico’s meetings do not fit into one particular building. Events and activities organized by “Portico for Dialogues” are held at various homes hospitable to the idea of “Portico.”
