GawpDance

“GawpDance” (2014)

Dance performance ”GawpDance” was created while reflecting on two old texts – “Song of Songs” from the Bible and the famous feminist essay “Throwing Like a Girl” by I.M. Young.

The creators of the performance are concerned with experienced embodiment – What is it to look and to be looked at? What is it to be open for possibilities and at the same time protect yourself from harm?

Corporeality is visible. (Aristotle said that too powerful touch harms. Could the same be said about a look?) Can the dance help overcome restrictions or, in another words, throw them away?

Director and choreographer: Henrikas Žukauskas and Gilija Žukauskienė
